GIS-based Network Analysis of North Korea’s Transportation Infrastructure for the Trade of Mineral Resources in North Korea 북한 광물자원 교류를 위한 GIS 기반의 북한 교통 인프라 네트워크 분석

Abstract

In order to trade mineral resources with North Korea in the future, this study analyzed the spatial distribution of mines and transportation infrastructures in the country, evaluating their relationships. A geographic information system database of the mines and transportation infrastructures was built from a variety of data, and a connectivity analysis of minerals with high domestic demand was conducted. The optimal route connecting the mine to the nearest port and railway junction was investigated, and the analysis revealed that mineral resources can be transported to facilities (e.g., ports) after accessing the railway through the road. The accessibilities of the railway junctions and of the ports were evaluated, confirming that the mine to the west has a good connectivity with the Songlim Port, while the mine to the east can be connected to the Dancheon, Wonsan, and Chongjin ports.

본 연구에서는 북한과의 광물자원 교류를 대비하여 북한의 광산 및 교통 인프라의 공간적 분포를 파악하고 이들 간의 연결 관계를 평가하였다. 이를 위해 다양한 자료를 통합하여 광산 및 교통 인프라에 대한 지리정보시스템 데이터베이스를 구축하였으며 국내 산업 수요가 높은 광물을 대상으로 주요 광산-교통인프라의 연결성 분석을 수행하였다. 광산에서 가장 가까운 항만 및 철도 연결부까지의 최적 경로를 분석한 결과, 도로를 통해 광산물이 철도로 접근한 후에 항만 등의 시설로 운송될 수 있음을 확인하였다. Location-allocation 분석을 통해 남북 철도 연결부 및 항만의 광산 접근성을 평가했을 때에는 서부의 광산들은 주로 송림항에서 접근성이 높은 것으로 분석되었고, 동부의 광산은 단천항, 원산항, 청진항으로 나뉘어 연결될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
