Field Application of Reverse Circulation Drilling in Korean Mines 국내 광산에서 역순환시추 현장 적용

Abstract

Reverse circulation (RC) drilling is widely used for mineral resource exploration along with core drilling. It is possible to drill at low cost and high speed and obtain accurate and reliable data. In operating mines, RC drilling was applied to mines requiring mid- and long-term mining plans by estimating grade distribution without disturbing mining operations. The RC drilling speed is 18–20 m/h and it takes less than 1.5 days/hole (100 m) considering drilling preparation and equipment movement and repair, rest, and weather conditions in field applications. RC drilling can be performed at a cost of 50–60% lower than that of core drilling. The drilling duration can be reduced by more than half of core drilling. Therefore, it is necessary to apply RC drilling to mineral resource exploration in Korea, which is cost and time effective to obtain a large amount of data without interfering with mining operations.

역순환시추는 코어시추와 더불어 광물자원 탐사에 많이 사용되는 시추방법으로, 낮은 비용과 빠른 시추 속도, 정확하고 신뢰할 수 있는 자료 획득이 가능하다. 운영중인 광산 내에서 채광 작업에 방해되지 않으면서 하부 품위 분포를 파악하여, 중・장기 채광 계획 수립이 필요한 현장에 역순환시추를 적용하였다. 현장 적용 결과 역순환시추 속도는 시간당 18~20m이며, 시추준비부터 다음 위치의 이동, 날씨와 휴식시간, 장비수리시간을 포함하여 100m기준 공당 1.5일 이하의 시간이 소요되는 것으로 평가된다. 역순환시추는 코어시추보다 50~60% 저렴한 비용으로 시추조사가 가능하며, 시추조사기간을 절반 이상 줄일 수 있다. 따라서 시간과 비용을 절감하며 동일한 비용으로 많은 자료를 획득할 수 있으며, 광산 운영에 방해가 되지 않는 역순환시추를 국내 광물자원의 탐사에 도입할 필요가 있다.
