Information
Natural gas is considered as the next main fuel for energy source due to the abundant reserves and environmental friendship compared to other fuel types. There are big natural gas markets in North-East Asia, such as Japan, Korea and China. And China has a huge potential as a natural gas market in the future as her economy grows. Also East Siberia and Russian Far East which are very close to those markets have huge amount of natural gas reserves. Until now, there has been no trade of natural gas between these markets and suppliers due to the existence of diplomatic & military conflict, difference in economic & political system, incapability for rasing finance of a large scale and etc. For the development and mutual benefits of these region an organization for the cooperation of natural gas industry in North-East Asia should be established. Through this organization, the following things need to be accomplished; Cooperation with autonomous governments in East Siberia and Russian Far East, broad exchange of information, enlargement of basis for the joint natural gas projects.
천연가스는 타 연료와 비교하여 풍부한 매장량과 환경친화적인 이유로 석유를 대체할 차세대 에너지원으로 각광받고 있다. 동북아시아 지역에는 일본, 한국, 중국이라는 거대한 수요자가 있으며 향후 중국의 경제발전에 따라 폭발적인 천연가스의 수요증가가 예상되고 있다. 또한 이러한 거대 수요처와 인접하여 있는 동시베리아와 극동러시아지역에는 막대한 양의 천연가스가 매장되어 있다. 그러나 현재까지 대규모 시장과 공급자가 연결되지 못한 것은 과거 이 지역에 존재 했던 외교 군사적인 대립, 정치․경제적 시스템의 차이, 대규모 금융 조달의 어려움 등에 그 원인이 있었다. 향후의 이 지역의 공동 발전을 위해서는 동북아시아 천연가스 협력기구의 운영이 필요하며 이를 통한 동시베리아 및 극동러시아 자치주들과의 자원협력 강화, 민간 차원의 정보교류 채널 강화, 기술협력 확대를 통한 천연가스 협력사업의 저변 확대가 필요하다.
