Award Guidelines of the Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers

Article 1. Purpose

The “Award Guidelines of the Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers” are established to encourage the publication of papers in the Society’s Korean-language journal, Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers, to enhance the academic quality and contribution of published papers, to foster a culture of rigorous peer review, and to improve the international visibility of the journal by selecting and recognizing outstanding papers, outstanding reviewers, and papers contributing to the internationalization of the journal.

 

Article 2. Eligibility

The awards under these Guidelines shall be classified into the Best Paper Award, Excellent Paper Award, Outstanding Reviewer Award, and Internationalization Paper Award. The eligibility criteria for each award shall be as follows.

A. The Best Paper Award shall be granted to the paper with the highest academic excellence and contribution among papers published in the Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers in the preceding year.

B. The Excellent Paper Award shall be granted to a paper with outstanding academic excellence and contribution among papers published in the Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers in the preceding year.

C. The Outstanding Reviewer Award shall be granted to a reviewer who participated in the peer review of manuscripts for the Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers in the preceding year and contributed to the qualitative improvement of the journal through rigorous and faithful review.

D. The Internationalization Paper Award shall be granted to the paper with the highest citation performance, excluding self-citations, in SCOPUS-indexed journal papers among papers published in the Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers two years prior.

E. For the Best Paper Award, Excellent Paper Award, and Internationalization Paper Award, at least one of the first author or corresponding author of the eligible paper shall be a member of the Society.

F. In calculating citation performance for the Internationalization Paper Award, a self-citation shall be defined as a case in which at least one author of the eligible paper is included as an author of the citing paper.

 

Article 3. Selection Committee

The President of the Society shall annually form a Selection Committee at the request of the Editor-in-Chief. The Selection Committee shall carry out procedures including the recommendation of award-eligible papers and candidates, announcement of selection, establishment of implementation principles, and evaluation. The Chair of the Selection Committee shall report the selection results to the Board of Directors and obtain its approval.

The editorial office may provide the Selection Committee with basic materials necessary for reviewing award candidates, including the status of published papers, the number of papers published by subject area, review records, compliance with review deadlines, and citation performance.

 

Article 4. Selection

A. The Selection Committee shall evaluate and review papers published in the Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers in the preceding year and shall constitute candidate papers by subject area for the Best Paper Award and Excellent Paper Award. The number of candidate papers and the recommendation criteria for each subject area shall be determined by the Selection Committee, taking into account the number of papers published in each subject area in the preceding year.

B. In recommending candidate papers for the Best Paper Award and Excellent Paper Award, research papers shall be given priority. However, technical reports, review articles, and commentary articles may also be recommended as candidate papers if they are deemed to have significant academic excellence and contribution to the journal.

C. In selecting the Best Paper Award and Excellent Paper Award, papers recommended from outside the Selection Committee and self-nominated papers shall not be considered.

D. If a member of the Selection Committee is an author or co-author of a candidate paper for the Best Paper Award, Excellent Paper Award, or Internationalization Paper Award, or otherwise has a conflict of interest that may affect the fairness of selection, the member shall be excluded from the evaluation, deliberation, and voting procedures for the relevant award.

E. The Selection Committee shall select one paper for the Best Paper Award and one paper for the Excellent Paper Award from among the recommended candidate papers by considering academic excellence and contribution. The award recipient for each selected paper shall be determined in accordance with Article 5.

F. The Outstanding Reviewer Award shall be selected by the Selection Committee from among reviewers who participated in the peer review of manuscripts for the Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers in the preceding year, comprehensively considering the number of completed reviews, the number of reviews completed within the review deadline, compliance rate with review deadlines, and the quality of review comments. If a member of the Selection Committee is a candidate for the Outstanding Reviewer Award, the member shall be excluded from the evaluation, deliberation, and voting procedures for that award.

G. The Internationalization Paper Award shall be granted to the paper with the highest citation performance, excluding self-citations, in SCOPUS-indexed journal papers as of the reference date determined by the Selection Committee among papers published in the Journal of the Korean Society of Mineral and Energy Resources Engineers two years prior. If citation counts are tied, the Selection Committee shall make the final decision by comprehensively considering the number of SCOPUS-indexed journal papers citing the paper, the number of citing papers that include authors affiliated with overseas institutions, the international influence of the journals in which the citing papers were published, the academic excellence of the paper, and its contribution to the internationalization of the journal.

H. If the Selection Committee determines that there is no eligible paper or candidate, or that no paper or candidate satisfies the selection criteria, it may decide not to select a recipient for the relevant award.

 

Article 5. Presentation of Awards

The President of the Society shall present a certificate and prize money to the recipient of each award selected each year at the Annual General Meeting.

A. Best Paper Award: One recipient, certificate, and prize money of KRW 1,000,000

B. Excellent Paper Award: One recipient, certificate, and prize money of KRW 500,000

C. Outstanding Reviewer Award: One recipient, certificate, and prize money of KRW 500,000

D. Internationalization Paper Award: One recipient, certificate, and prize money of KRW 500,000

E. The recipient of the Best Paper Award or Excellent Paper Award shall be one person selected from among the first author and corresponding author of the selected paper. In principle, the recipient shall be confirmed through the corresponding author of the paper. However, a person who has received the Best Paper Award or Excellent Paper Award within the past five years based on the award year shall be considered with lower priority in selecting the recipient. If the first author and corresponding author are the same person, or if there is a special reason, the Selection Committee may confirm or determine the recipient.

F. The recipient of the Internationalization Paper Award shall be one person selected from among the first author and corresponding author of the selected paper. In principle, the recipient shall be confirmed through the corresponding author of the paper. If the first author and corresponding author are the same person, or if there is a special reason, the Selection Committee may confirm or determine the recipient.

제1조 (목적)

“한국자원공학회지 포상규정”은 본 학회의 국문학술지 「한국자원공학회지」에 대한 논문 게재를 장려하고, 게재논문의 학문적 수준과 기여를 향상하며, 충실한 논문심사 문화를 조성하고 학회지의 국제적 가시성을 제고하기 위하여 우수 논문, 우수 심사자 및 학회지 국제화에 기여한 논문을 선정하여 표창함을 목적으로 한다.

 

제2조 (선정대상)

본 규정에 따른 포상은 최우수논문상, 우수논문상, 우수심사자상 및 국제화논문상으로 구분하며, 각 상의 선정대상은 다음 각 항과 같다.

가. 최우수논문상은 직전년도 「한국자원공학회지」 게재논문 중 학문적 우수성과 기여도가 가장 높은 논문을 대상으로 한다.

나. 우수논문상은 직전년도 「한국자원공학회지」 게재논문 중 학문적 우수성과 기여도가 우수한 논문을 대상으로 한다.

다. 우수심사자상은 직전년도 「한국자원공학회지」 논문심사에 참여한 심사위원 중 엄정하고 충실한 심사로 학회지의 질적 향상에 기여한 심사위원을 대상으로 한다.

라. 국제화논문상은 전전년도 「한국자원공학회지」 게재논문 중 SCOPUS 등재 저널 논문에서 자기인용을 제외한 피인용 실적이 가장 우수한 논문을 대상으로 한다.

마. 최우수논문상, 우수논문상 및 국제화논문상 대상 논문의 제1저자 또는 교신저자 중 1인 이상은 학회 회원이어야 한다.

바. 국제화논문상의 피인용 실적 산정 시 자기인용은 해당 논문의 저자 중 1인 이상이 인용 논문의 저자에 포함된 경우로 본다.

 

제3조 (선정위원회)

학회장은 매년 편집위원장의 요청에 의거하여 선정위원회를 구성한다. 선정위원회는 포상 대상 논문 및 대상자의 추천, 선정 공고, 시행원칙, 심사 등의 절차를 수행한다. 선정위원장은 선정위원회의 선정 결과를 이사회에 보고하고 승인을 득한다.

나. 위원: 분야별 대표편집위원

편집국은 선정위원회가 각 상의 수상 후보를 검토할 수 있도록 논문 게재 현황, 세부분야별 게재논문 수, 심사 이력, 심사기한 준수 여부, 피인용 실적 등 필요한 기초자료를 제공할 수 있다.

 

제4조 (선정)

가. 선정위원회는 직전년도 「한국자원공학회지」 게재논문을 대상으로 평가 및 심사하여 최우수논문상 및 우수논문상의 세부분야별 후보논문을 구성한다. 세부분야별 후보논문 추천 편수와 추천 기준은 직전년도 세부분야별 게재논문 수 등을 고려하여 선정위원회가 정한다.

나. 최우수논문상 및 우수논문상 후보논문 추천 시 연구논문을 우선 고려하되, 기술보고, 해설, 총설 등도 학문적 우수성 및 학회지 기여도가 크다고 인정되는 경우 후보논문으로 추천할 수 있다.

다. 최우수논문상 및 우수논문상 선정 시 선정위원회 외부의 추천 논문 및 자천 논문은 고려하지 않는다.

라. 선정위원회 위원이 최우수논문상, 우수논문상 또는 국제화논문상 후보논문의 저자 또는 공저자이거나, 그 밖에 선정의 공정성에 영향을 줄 수 있는 이해상충 관계에 있는 경우 해당 위원은 해당 상의 평가, 심의 및 의결 절차에서 제외한다.

마. 선정위원회는 추천된 후보논문들 중에서 학문적 우수성과 기여도를 고려하여 최우수논문상 대상 논문 1편과 우수논문상 대상 논문 1편을 선정한다. 선정된 논문의 수상자는 제5조에 따른다.

바. 우수심사자상은 직전년도 「한국자원공학회지」 논문심사에 참여한 심사위원 중 심사 완료 건수, 심사기한 내 완료 건수, 심사기한 준수율, 심사의견의 충실성 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 선정위원회가 선정한다. 단, 선정위원회 위원이 우수심사자상 후보자인 경우 해당 상의 평가, 심의 및 의결 절차에서 제외한다.

사. 국제화논문상은 전전년도 「한국자원공학회지」 게재논문 중 선정위원회가 정하는 기준일 현재 SCOPUS 등재 저널 논문에서 자기인용을 제외한 피인용 실적이 가장 우수한 논문을 선정한다. 피인용 건수가 동일한 경우에는 해당 논문을 인용한 SCOPUS 등재 저널 논문의 수, 국외 기관 소속 저자가 포함된 인용 논문의 수, 인용 논문이 게재된 학술지의 국제적 영향력, 논문의 학술적 우수성 및 학회지 국제화 기여도를 종합적으로 고려하여 선정위원회가 최종 결정한다.

아. 각 상은 적격자가 없거나 선정 기준을 충족하는 논문 또는 대상자가 없다고 선정위원회가 판단하는 경우 수상자를 선정하지 않을 수 있다.

 

제5조 (시상)

학회장은 매년 정기총회에서 선정된 각 상의 수상자에게 상장과 부상을 수여한다.

가. 최우수논문상: 1인, 상장, 부상 100만원

나. 우수논문상: 1인, 상장, 부상 50만원

다. 우수심사자상: 1인, 상장, 부상 50만원

라. 국제화논문상: 1인, 상장, 부상 50만원

마. 최우수논문상 및 우수논문상의 수상자는 선정된 논문의 제1저자 또는 교신저자 중 1인으로 한다. 수상자는 해당 논문의 교신저자를 통해 확인하는 것을 원칙으로 한다. 다만, 시상연도를 기준으로 최근 5년 이내 최우수논문상 또는 우수논문상을 수상한 자는 수상자 선정 시 후순위로 고려한다. 제1저자와 교신저자가 동일인이거나 특별한 사유가 있는 경우에는 선정위원회가 수상자를 확인 또는 결정할 수 있다.

바. 국제화논문상의 수상자는 선정된 논문의 제1저자 또는 교신저자 중 1인으로 한다. 수상자는 해당 논문의 교신저자를 통해 확인하는 것을 원칙으로 한다. 제1저자와 교신저자가 동일인이거나 특별한 사유가 있는 경우에는 선정위원회가 수상자를 확인 또는 결정할 수 있다.
