The high price of oil and mineral resources holds significant conflict potentials as global demand increases rapidly. Especially stable security of energy and mineral resources is very important for Korea, which imports most energy and mineral resources from foreign country. In 2008, Korea Institute of Geoscience & Mineral Resources (KIGAM), which has been carrying out the national geological survey and resource exploration projects since 1976, established ‘The Mid- and Long-Term Plan of Korea National Geological Survey and Resource Exploration (FY 2010 to 2020)’. In this plan, several mid-term and long-term programs for the stable resources security and sustainable resources industry were suggested.
최근 전 세계적으로 그 수요가 급증하면서 고유가와 자원가격의 급상승으로 국가 간 마찰 가능성이 높아지고 있다. 특히 자원 및 에너지를 대부분 수입에 의존하고 있는 우리나라는 안정적인 에너지･자원 확보가 매우 중요하다. 이와 관련하여 1976년 이후 정부 출연사업으로 ‘국가지질조사 및 자원탐사’ 사업을 추진해 오고 있는 한국지질자원연구원은 2008년 『국가지질조사 및 자원탐사 프로그램 중장기 기획(2010-2020)』을 수립하였다. 본 기획을 통해 자원의 안정적 확보와 지속가능한 자원산업 발전을 위한 다양한 중장기 프로그램을 제시하였다.
