Abstract
Rock samples were collected on faults and 2∼3 m away from faults at 4 sites in Korea and China, and weathering and alteration were analysed using laboratory tests and polarization microscope. Point load strength and slake durability index were measured to analyse weathering character of rock samples. The strength and slake durability of rock samples on faults were weaker than those of rock samples 2∼3 m away from faults. Polarization microscope was also used to analyse the alteration and weathering of rock samples. Minerals of rock samples on faults were more altered and weathered than those of rock samples 2∼3 m away from faults. The correlation between physical and mineralogical properties were analysed synthetically. The results of the study can be used as basic data of geological investigation and construction in fault sites.
생성 시기와 풍화 양상이 다른 국내외 4개 단층 지역의 단층면과 단층면에서 2∼3 m 이격된 암반에서 암석 시료를 채취하고, 실내시험과 편광현미경을 이용해 풍화 및 변질 특성을 분석하였다. 점하중강도와 슬레이크 내구성을 측정한 결과 단층면에서 이격된 암반의 암석 시료에 비해 단층면에서 채취한 암석시료의 강도 및 슬레이크 내구성 지수가 상대적으로 낮게 측정되었다. 또한 편경현미경 관찰 결과 단층면 시료에서 변질 및 풍화 작용을 받은 광물이 상대적으로 더 많이 발견되었고, 광물 내 또는 광물 간 내부균열이 다수 관찰되었다. 시험 측정 및 관찰 결과를 토대로 다양한 암석시료의 물리적-광물학적 특성을 다양한 관점에서 종합적으로 분석하여 그 상관관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구결과는 향후 단층대 주변의 지질 조사 또는 건설 활동을 위한 기초자료로 이용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
