Characteristic Study of Advanced Froth Flotation on Uljin Scheelite Ore 울진 회중석광의 고효율 부유선별 특성연구

Abstract

The flotation behaviors of scheelite ore reserves in Korea were investigated to improve the separation efficiency for establishing stable supply system of tungsten. The head ore used in this study was obtained from Dongbo mine, the Uljin area. The ore samples contain about 0.75% WO₃ scheelite and gangue minerals such as quartz, albite, biotite, and chlorite. According to the XRF analysis results, the ore samples consist of 74.43% SiO₂, 8.29% Al₂O₃, 8.15% Fe₂O₃, and 3.14% CaO, which indicates that the scheelite exists together with silicate minerals. Generally, the separation efficiency of Ca-ion containing minerals, such as calcite, apatite, and fluorite, contained in the raw sample is low, due to its similar physicochemical surface properties to scheelite. Therefore, in this study, tests were carried out to successfully separate Ca-ion containing minerals, by determining optimal dosages of pH regulator and depressant. The results at the optimal dosages show that the grade and recovery of scheelite concentrate are 74.6%WO₃ and 73% respectively.

텅스텐 원료의 안정적 확보를 위하여 국내에 부존되어 있는 회중석광의 선별효율 크게 높일 수 있는 부유선별 특성을 연구하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 시료는 울진 동보광산에서 채취한 것으로, 원광의 WO₃ 함량이 0.75%로 비교적 높고 석영, 조장석, 흑운모 그리고 녹니석 등이 주요 맥석광물로 존재함을 확인하였다. 시료에 대한 화학분석 결과 SiO₂ 함량이 74.43%로 매우 높고 Al₂O₃와 Fe₂O₃가 각각 8.29%와 8.15% 그리고 CaO가 3.14% 존재하고 있어, 회중석이 석영맥 중에 혹은 규산염 광물에 존재함을 알 수 있다. 일반적으로 회중석 원광중에 Ca 이온을 함유한 방해석, 인회석, 형석 등이 존재할 경우 선별효율이 많이 낮아지게 된다. 이는 회중석이 Ca 이온을 함유한 광물들과 물리화학적 표면특성이 비슷하기 때문인데, 본 연구에서는 Ca 이온을 함유한 맥석 광물들을 효과적으로 분리하기 위한 pH조절제 및 억제제의 적정첨가량에 대한 연구를 진행하였으며, 최적 실험조건에서 WO₃ 품위와 회수율이 각각 74.6%와 73%인 연구결과를 얻었다.
