Abstract

ICT in mining is linked to all information related to mining activities such as geology, production planning and performance, equipment productivity, human resources, mass flow, procurements, costs and markets. Based on these connections, ICT has created new management methods, automation technologies, and optimization technologies in mining field. As the mining environments are getting worse, overseas mining companies are actively introducing ICT as a tool to overcome the difficulties and to achieve sustainable growth. On the other hand, only a small investment has been made in several mines in Korea for safety and equipment monitoring purposes. Recently, domestic mines are faced with various problems that have not been experienced in the past, such as aging of manpower, rising costs, and deepening of resources. Therefore, it is considered urgent to introduce ICT for the sustainable operations of domestic mines.

광업에서 정보통신기술(ICT)은 지질, 생산계획과 실적, 설비와 장비 운영, 인력 운영, mass flow, 자재 조달 및 비용, 시장 등 광산활동과 관련한 모든 정보와 연결되면서 새로운 공정제어 기법과 자동화 기술, 통신기술, 최적화 기술들을 만들어 내기 시작했다. 생산환경이 점차 열악해지면서 해외 광산기업은 이를 극복하고 지속적인 성장을 이어가기 위한 도구로 ICT를 적극 도입하고 있는 추세이다. 반면, 국내에서는 몇 개 광산에서 안전과 장비 모니터링 목적으로 소규모 투자만이 이루어진 실정이다. 최근 국내 광산은 노령화, 비용상승, 심부화 등 과거에 경험하지 못했던 다양한 문제에 직면하고 있다. 따라서 국내 광산에서도 광산의 지속적인 경영뿐만 아니라 광산경영이 경제에 미치는 영향을 고려하여, 생산성 향상과 안전한 생산을 위한 ICT의 도입이 시급한 것으로 판단된다.
