The Iveco Ford site in Langley, Berkshire has got the advantage of placing near the Heathrow Airport, and it made the estate agency develope this area for the business complex. The main subsurface contaminants of this site were expected to be diesel and oil rather than heavy metals and chlorinated compounds, and the remediation was planned prior to the business complex development. The remediation was successfully completed with the removal of several contaminants, and the monitoring of the remediation process was followed for one year. This remediation work was the eminent project applying the strict environment standard and required the rigorous monitoring and documentation.
영국 Berkshire에 있는 Iveco Ford사의 공장이었던 Langley지역은 Heathrow공항 인근에 위치한 장점 등이 부각되어 영국최대의 부동산개발회사에 매각되어 최종적으로 비즈니스센터로 개발하기로 결정되어진 지역이었다. 이 지역의 하부층은 염소를 함유하는 용매나 중금속보다는 디젤이나 윤활유에 의한 오염이 주된 것으로 추측되어져 상업부지로의 전환을 위하여 오염된 토양의 정화가 추진되었다. 복원사업은 여러 오염물질이 제거되어져 성공적으로 마무리 되었으며, 일년에 걸친 복원사후장기모니터링도 수행되어졌다. 이 실례는 매우 엄격한 환경기준을 적용한 복원사례로서 엄격한 모니터링과 documentation을 요구했던 매우 획기적인 프로젝트였다.
