Abstract
Maintenance costs for the passive treatment systems currently installed at the abandoned mines are steadily increasing due to some problems such as low metal removal efficiencies, overflows and accumulation of sludges. Moreover, present passive treatment systems are planned to be installed at many closed mines, and similar problems are likely to be encountered in the future. Thus, a study for the development of new treatment system is highly required. An experimental program was undertaken to improve the efficiency of the passive treatment system. The passive treatment system in the Gapjung coal mine, which consists of a pond, SAPS(successive alkalinity producing systems) and oxic wetland, was selected for this study. The area of the whole treatment systems is about 4,000 m2, and the flow rate of influent is 2,100 ton/day. Loading rate of the metallic constituents, such as Fe, Al and Mn, is about 45.236 g/day. The pH of the mine drainage was measured 5.52. Chemical analysis showed that 98% of Fe was removed by the treatment systems. The removal rates for the Fe constituent were found as 5 g /m2/ d in the pond, 7 g / m2 / d by SAPS, and 1 g / m2 / d in the oxic wetland. In case of Al, removal efficiency was 97%, and Mn was removed up to 93% by the treatment system.
현재 설치된 자연정화처리시설은 일부 성분의 정화효율이 낮고, 침전물 누적, 월수현상 등으로 유지 관리비가 상승하고 있다. 그러나 향후 동일한 형태의 정화처리시설이 계속해서 폐광산에 설치될 예정이므로 유사한 형태의 문제가 반복될 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 경제적이며, 방류수 수질을 만족하는 자연정화기술의 공정 개선·개발연구가 필요하다고 판단된다. 본 연구는 갑정탄광에 설치된 자연정화처리시설의 정화성능을 평가하여 정화처리공정 개선에 필요한 기초자료를 얻고자 수행되었다. 본 자연정화처리시설은 침전조, SAPS, 호기성 소택지로 구성되어 있고 이들 총 면적은 약 4,000 m2 였다. 이러한 처리시설내로 유입되는 광산배수량(유입량)은 2,100 t / day 이었다. 처리시설내로 유입되는 Fe, Al, Mn 성분 방유량은 1일 약 45.236 gram에 달하고 있다. 유입수의 pH는 5.52의 값을 나타냈다. 유입수/최종 방류수에 대한 수질분석 결과, Fe, Al 및 Mn을 98%, 97% 및 93%로 정화시키고 있다. 침전조, SAPS, 호기성소택지의 Fe 정화효율은 5 g/m2/d, 7 g/m2/d, 1 g/m2/d 이었다.
