The bioleaching mechanism of copper from a refractory chalcopyrite concentrate in the presence of Thiobacillus ferrooxidans was investigated. The pre-treatment and physicochemical properties of the concentrate samples were studied and the leaching behavior by oxidation process was investigated in terms of various reaction parameters. It was observed that the high rate of copper leaching was achieved by the indirect oxidation process of Fe2(SO4)3 which was transformed from FeSO4, a substrate, oxidized with the microorganism while the direct oxidation of chalcopyrite by Thiobacillus ferrooxidans was believed to be very slow the leaching activity less. In addition, the effect of the substrate on the copper recovery was studied. The copper leaching efficiency from chalcopyrite was not changed noticeably in the range of 5 to 9g/l of the iron concentration and copper was recovered well even at the pulp density of 200g/l.
본 연구에서는 난용성 광물인 황동광(CuFeS2) 정광으로부터 구리 침출시 미생물 균주인 Thiobacillus ferrooxidans의 접종 효과 및 생물학적 침출기구를 규명하고자 하였다. 본 목적을 위하여 황동광 정광 시료의 물리·화학적 특성조사를 실시하였으며 산화공정에 의한 미생물 침출시 반응인자의 영향 등을 조사하였다. 황동광에 대한 미생물 침출실험 결과 T. ferrooxidans에 의한 직접적인 산화과정 보다는 기질로 첨가한 FeSO4를 미생물 균주가 산화시켜서 생성된 Fe2(SO4)3에 의한 간접적인 산화과정에 의하여 구리가 침출되는 기여율이 높았다. 또한 황동광으로부터 구리 침출시 첨가하는 기질의 영향을 조사한 결과 5∼9g/l의 철농도 범위에서는 구리의 침출률이 유사하였으며 200g/l의 높은 고액농도(pulp density)에서도 구리가 효율적으로 침출되었다.
