Urban areas are faced with a serious traffic congestion problem due to the constant population and traffic increase with rapid urbanization. In order to solve these problems, long span underground roads in the urban areas are being actively constructed, and safety of internal users is required due to the characteristics of underground roads accordingly. Therefore, in this study, we have carried out the research and development on the fire smoke diffusion delay device which can minimize the damage of the fire smoke by securing the time needed for the users inside the tunnel to evacuate, by delaying the spread of the smoke when the internal fire occurs in the underground road. As a result of the study, it was analyzed that it is easy to apply the smoke diffusion delay device that uses spring elasticity of non-powered type for the Great depth underground double deck tunnel, and that it has an outstanding fire smoke diffusion delay effect.
