Current Status of Mineral Resources in Madagascar 마다가스카르의 광물자원 부존현황: 허철호

Abstract

It is reported that there are bauxite, coal, chromite, graphite, mica, placer, salt and semi-gems in the mineral resources of Madagascar. Other mined and exported minerals consist of graphite, mica and small amounts of beryllium, gold, rare earth and industrial minerals. In the sector of building stone, Madagascar produces granite, labradorite, and marble. It is forecasted that the mineral industry of Madagascar in 2008 start to produce ilmenite, rutile and zircon with significant increase and has the plan to produce cobalt and nickel in 2009.

마다가스카르의 부존 광물자원에는 보크사이트, 석탄, 크롬철광, 흑연, 운모, 중사광, 소금 및 준보석류 등이 있다. 기타 채광되고 수출되는 광물에는 흑연, 운모 및 소량의 베릴륨, 금, 희토류광물 및 산업용광물 등이 있다. 건축용 석재 부문에 있어서 마다가스카르는 화강암, 조회장암 및 대리암 등을 생산하고 있다. 마다가스카르의 광물산업은 2008년에는 티탄철석, 금홍석, 지르콘의 생산이 시작되면서 뚜렷하게 증가할 것으로 전망되고 있으며, 2009년부터는 코발트와 니켈을 생산할 예정이다.
