Geophysical methods extends its applications from the classical mineral and petroleum prospecting to engineering and environmental surveys. These new areas show no fundamental differences in data acquisition and interpretation. In Korea and Japan, a term \"physical survey\" is commonly used as a short name for \"geophysical survey\", Regardless to its original purpose for this naming, this terminology can have wider meaning including physical tests on artificial things. The physical test on man-made structure- nondestructive test(NDT) - shows some differences in methodologies as well as in the instrumentation. The man-made structures are usually smaller and more homogeneous than the geologic structures. So in many cases, routine works are often sufficient for the inspecting of them. That\'s why the word \"test\" is widely used instead of \"survey\". But we should pay attention to these fields, because the graduate students who have taken some applied geophysics courses may be the proper man power for this purpose.
