Abstract
China having the world largest shale gas resources has been doing great efforts to promote domesticshale gas industry and relevant technologies. Development of China shale gas could have various and significantinfluences on Korea, which has crucial relationships with China in terms of not only geopolitical factors but alsoindustrial aspects. In this study, Chinese current and past situations of shale gas industry, and technology anddevelopment trends were widely surveyed, and the future potential of shale gas industry was also investigated.Especially, relevant activities of domestic companies including Chinese NOCs and IOCs working in China havebeen scrutinized as being based on the Chinese national policies. As a result, it is summarized that the futuregrowth of Chinese shale gas industry seems to be bright, otherwise it is also noted that various obstacles existsimultaneously. Then, it is concluded that the commercial expansion of Chinese shale development would requirelonger approaches.
