Various form of Geological data and information can play a role in sustainable development such as mining, land degradation, environment protection, and contribute to improved decision making process. In Korea, from 2001, the systematic facilities for geological specimens preservation were constructed on Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources. However, as the deficiency of specialized rules and regulations for the its collecting, keeping and administrating, it still has some difficulties for effective data treatment and information services. In this paper, we provide a review of infrastructure of geological data & information management of Korea, and propose the improvement ways to reform the regimes for the collection, preservation, and distribution of geological data and information.
