Gas kick during drilling operation threatens the wellbore stability by causing additional pressureincrease. It can be worsen when kick influx increases caused by inadequate kick detecting capability in relevantequipments and additional well control time. Previous researches had common limitations of not consideringoperation time in variety of drilling environments up to sufficient extent. The purpose of this study is to examinethe effects of operation time on the kick influx and pressure behaviors. In this study, supplementary operationtime for kick detection, control, and removal was considered as the main input for an well control simulator,then analyzed for the required time in every well control step. Also, allowable time for kill mud mixing whichcould keep the wellbore stability was estimated when removing gas kick by using the Engineer’s method.
시추 중 지층으로부터 가스 킥(gas kick)이 유입되면 시추공 내 압력상승을 일으켜 시추공의 안정성을위협한다. 관련 장비의 킥 감지 능력과 유정제어 작업시간에 따라 킥 유입량이 늘어날수록 더 위험한 상황이된다. 기존의 연구들은 다양한 조건의 시추현장에서 벌어지는 작업시간을 충분히 고려하지 않은 한계를 가지고있다. 본 연구에서는 작업시간이 킥 유입량과 압력변화에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 검토하는 것이 목적이다. 이를위해 유정제어 과정을 킥의 탐지, 제한, 제거 세부분으로 나누어 발생할 수 있는 작업시간을 적용하였다. 또한킥 제거 시 공학자방법(engineer’s method)을 이용할 때 시추공의 안정성을 유지할 수 있는 허용 가능한 이수혼합시간을 추정하였다.
